On this blog, my second most paralyzing fear is grammar and spelling errors.  Most people don’t care, but I tend to be more critical towards myself.  I read my old posts and cringe in disgust.

Luckily, this is just a blog.  Its very nature is quick and dirty1.  This is why Social Networking sites like Facebook and Twitter are so popular.  I can’t spend too much time editorializing and agonizing over every word or sentence.  No time to think (too much).  Like Nike used to say: Just Do It!

Here’s a comic from Chuck & Beans that sums it up quite well:

Intentional Typo - Chuck & Beans

Update: Sam Shah has some really good advice on how to blog.  He writes from experience, and very practical.

  1. Dirty being the synonym for “error prone”. []

  1. Hi Rudy,
Great comic strip! Some people say that grammar and typos don’t matter in emails or even blog posts, but I disagree. If one is going to take the write something, then do it right!
It’s ok to make a mistake now and then…

butt itz not OK too rite lik an idiot! 🙂

Just my opinion of course… and I’m glad that spell-check exists!

    Hey Steve,

If the topic is serious, the spelling/grammar has to be somewhat “perfect”. At least not stupid ones like “their” and “they’re”.

Other than that, I’m just too lazy to pass it through a spell checker. 😉
