Lis mentioned the term “blogiversary” to me in a comment last year.  It was to mark my 2nd year blogging anniversary.  Well, today is the third year, already!  Wow, time has certainly fly.  This blog has gone through a lot of changes since then.  I’m starting to get the hang of this, although I’m still experiencing speed-bumps during the writing process.  But all in all, It has been a great learning experience.  It has also been so much fun.  The community of bloggers I hang out with is to thank for my perserverance.  I don’t know if I’ll get this far without the support of those who take the time, and participate in my blog via comments.

What’s different in 2009 for my blog?  For one thing, I’ve changed WordPress layout to Vladimir Prelovac‘s Amazing Grace Theme.  When Vladimir released it last year and mentioned it to me in a comment, I checked it out and quickly loved it!  I promised myself that I would use it next time.  That time is here.  I’ve made a few tweaks to suit my needs.  Originally, I was going with the default 3-column setup. But I decided my content should be more prominent, so I went back with my true and tested 2-column configuration.

Next, I’ve taken a step to make this blog more personal.  I used to write work related posts here, but I’m now going to do that in a new blog site, Building IT.  There’s so much to talk about in both worlds, so there’ll be plenty of stuff to write about in both blogs.

Some stuff will remain the same, such as my focus to foster comments via my blogs, Disqus, Backtype, and FriendFeed.  I’m also continuing to keep up with the latest WordPress releases and third party plugins.

For those of you who are still reading my blog, thanks again for visiting!  Remember, I’m also here to help, so if you have any question, let me know.  Your comments are greatly appreciated!

  1. hey Rudy,
    Wow, what a surprise! I love the “redesign.” Nice and clean, and great colors. I like two column designs, as there is more room for the post. Your archive page is very cool for seeing when you published posts (and I like the descriptions by each year 🙂 ). Overall, two thumbs up!

    PS. I’m just glad my blog is only about three months old so I won’t have to worry about “re-skinning” it for a long time.
    PPS. No more Santa hat… 🙂 I was going to give you a hard time about that still being in your header. 🙂

  2. hey Rudy,
    I’m looking at this in Firefox. Do you want me to look at it in my old IE6? 🙂 I haven’t opened that up in weeks. I meant to thank you for recommending AdBlockerPlus. I finally got around to installing that last week. It rocks! ~ Steve, the firefox-lovin’ trade show booths guru

    Amazing Grace Theme is nice template for wordpress and I think 3 column would look more cool. 🙂

    @Steve:
    Thanks for the compliments. I’ve quickly tested it on IE6 and seems to work just fine. You can check it out yourself and let me know. Firefox is my browser of choice so it has to look good in it. So congrats for making the jump to it.

    Oh by the way, for me the process of changing theme does not feel like a mere “re-skin” job. There were actually a fair bit of code changes. But, I can tell you, for a once-in-a-year job, it’s quite fun and rewarding. I’m such a geek. 😉

    @Avatar:
    Nah, I previewed 3 columns for a week and it was too cramped, even in a 1024×768 full screen. The pages have to be easily readable and I don’t want a lot of distraction on the sidebar(s).
