I’m a big fan of Apple’s user interface. I got my first iPhone in 2009 with the iPhone 3G.  It was one of the best smart phone I’ve ever used, considering that time its competitor was the Blackberry and early Android devices.  There were plenty of apps to choose from, too.  Nothing compares to Apple’s iOS experience.  By the time the 4th generation iPhone came around, it was a no-brainer: beautiful Retina screen display, awesome built-in camera1, and plenty of great apps like Instagram, Spotify, etc.

So it comes with no surprise that I’m jumping into Apple’s tablet.  I did have to wait 3 years for the new iPad to feature the wildly popular Retina display. I know from experience, it’s just beautiful.  I also know to expect the best user interface from Apple.  The new iPad met my high expectations.  I’m glad Apple finally put out an iPad that suits my needs: for reading, watching media2, and playing games.

Speaking of apps, here are my top app picks for the new iPad:

  • iPhoto
  • Flipboard
  • Netflix
  • Bible+
  • Mint
  • Google Earth
  • Kindle
  • Air Supremacy
  • Bejeweled Blitz

I’m sure this list will grow, over time. Any suggestion is welcome!

I just got an android a month or two ago. My first endeavor was setting up email, facebook… then apps. i loaded up with a lot of junk apps, but noticed it loading slower… I uninstalled a bunch of stuff and it loads up in a few seconds again. I kept some of the ones you have, Netflix, Kindle (and the KJV Bible, but through kindle https://www.amazon.com/gp/digital/your-account/order-summary.html?orderID=D01-6813481-8473830 – sometimes i click a cross-reference by mistake though and end up getting lost… periodically highlighting phrases, I can go back to my last highlighted item and find the way.

    Hey David,

I have an Android tablet since November 2011. The space first thing, space that I got was android Amazon market. Now I have so many games and apps because of it.

But still, it does not beat the nice Apple apps.
