I have plans to see Star Trek in an IMAX theater this week. I’m already looking forward to the other two big action flicks:

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen
(Release June 24 2009 – in IMAX!)

GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra
(Release August 7 2009 – hopefully in IMAX)

Meanwhile, here’s hoping JJ Abram’s doesn’t disappoint with the reboot of the Trek series.

(Release May 8 2009 – in IMAX)

  1. Hey Rudy,
I wasn’t expecting much out of Transformers but was blown away. I can’t wait for #2. Star Trek and GI Joe look good too. It’s going to be a good movie year I think! ~ Steve, the trade show guru

    Hey Steve,

I just talked with a co-worker about “expectations” when going to see a movie. Especially this Star Trek movie coming up. If I have such a high expectation, I’m setting myself up for a major disappointment.

However, if I go with a low or no expectation, then I’m always going to come out ahead – by either being correct, or surprised.

So I’m trying my best to not get excited, but with these movies, I doubt I can. 😉

I haven’t seen any film yet in IMAX since the closest one to me is nearly 50 Min’s away. I plan on making Transformers 2 my first IMAX experience. I don’t think Star Trek will disappoint like Wolverine did. J.J. Abrams hardly ever disappoints and he knows what hes doing. I’m sorry to say this, but I really think the G.I. JOE movie is going to fail. The latest trailer was kinda disappointing and it almost seems like they spent a ton of time on the CGI special effects rather than the story.

    Hey Farzan,

I found JJ Abrams’ movies are hit-miss, so far. Mission Impossible 3 was ok. Cloverfield was a disappointment. I’ll report back this weekend about his vision for Star Trek.

As for GI Joe, there’s really nothing wrong with pure action film. When I was younger, watching the cartoons I looked forward to the action. I think they’re going for exactly that, and it might just work. Action movies get a lot of replay in home theaters. I know I always reach for action DVDs when I’m bored. 🙂
