We went to Outback Steakhouse on my birthday.  It was a warm sunny day when we talked about:

  • Buying a PS3 and not buying Blu-Ray discs.  Is there really a point of buying/collecting movies, when the age of downloadable movie rentals is already here?
  • Christmas movies.  Anything new to watch this year? Else, it’s going to be “It’s A Wonderful World” or “Miracle on 34th Street“, all over again.
  • Any chance of an Elf sequel?  Maybe not.  Let’s not spoil a perfectly good movie.
  • New XBox Experience.  Now with Avatars.  Hmm, learned that from Wii, did they?
  • World of Warcraft.   Not gonna happen on the Xbox because of high-res graphics requirements.  The fans are just obsessed with the graphic designers (and developers).
  • Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour interchangeable instrument kits.  Why can’t they all get along like this?

I caved Rudy and bought a Samsung BD1500. I already have an Xbox 360 and nothing really interested me on the PS3 to warrant a purchase. Bought The Incredible Hulk, The Matrix trilogy and A Scanner Darkly. Waiting for Wanted to get released. So far im enjoying it, but I kinda wish I had waited untill next year when prices are really down.

I really liked the New Xbox Experience. Sure they did copy the Wii with avatars, but I think they can improve on Nintendo’s Miis. The NXE is pretty nice to look at and much more cleaner. Still have to get use to it, but so far I like it.

World of Warcraft will happen on the Xbox. Im just not sure if its going to be on the 360 or the next Xbox, but Im sure it will happen. People have said RTS games will never happen on a console and look what happened. Now theirs tons of RTS game son the 360 and they work pretty well. Its only a matter of time.

    Great post Rudy

    Hey Farzan,

The BD1500 seems to have issues, according to HDForum Reviews. That is the problem with the current batch (still?) of BD set-top players. Who knows how long you need to wait to get a “solid” blu-ray player, other than the PS3. But then again, with the new ones, the prices will not be low enough.

I thought the same, but its actualy pretty solid. Its also profile 2.0 and has a very slick design. The only issue I have with it is that it tends to get alittle hot under the player after a couple of hours. Its still a great Blu Ray player and very cheap. Its going to be around $149.99 during Black Friday. You cant get a better deal than that
