In the early 1980’s, I did a book report on this in Grade 8 for English class.  I remembered doing a presentation of this “novel”, complete with turning the lights off.  It was totally lame.  My English wasn’t good back then.  I recalled my class mates were very uncomfortable with it, and a few would mutter, “What’s going on!?”

I was thoroughly embarrassed.  I’m not sure why this event is still stuck in my mind, after all these years.

After reading an io9 article on The Text Adventure Games That Ate Our Brains, I thought I should confess my sin.  I love the game, but I butchered the memory of it.  Maybe playing the Zork online game will help me redeem myself.

I’m classifying this as “Things I Rather Forget” category.  I’m halfway there – I can’t remember the novel’s story anymore!

Ha! very nice. Although I had allready forgotten this & now I am having total recall about sitting in a friends garage playing a text game on the computer. I think there was a trilogy of games actually. 🙂

It started with a trilogy. Then, as any popular pop culture, it grew into many many more sequels.

Lots more Zork info on the Wikipedia site.

So you don’t look back at the memory fondly yet huh? Must have been *really* bad.

    Yes it was.

In fact, I had a few other bad memories (of other topics). I’ll need to confess those sins in my future blog entries.

Wow, turning off the lights during the presentation, I guess it was an interactive presentation to go along with the interactive book. That’s pretty cool, well except for the actual novel lol.. not quite my cup of tea. Text adventure games just never quite hit it off with me :/
