When my daughter was 2, she didn’t have any interest in any of the Toy Story movie. Maybe because the movies featured a boy with his toys. Or maybe there was nothing girly about it (ie. no Princess).
Now with the Buzz Lightyear Ride in Disneyland, and the new marketing of the movie, she’s beginning to like Toy Story now.
She’s revisited the movie on DVD. She looked at the back of the packaging and asked me, “Who is Buzz Lightyear?” I just had the simple answer, “He’s the other toys’ best friend.”

Turns out Buzz Lightyear was inspired by GI Joe action figures and Buzz Aldrin, the Astronaut. Interesting tid bits about the colors, too.
I’m also so looking forward to Toy Story 3!
