While celebrating my 40th birthday, I couldn’t help but wonder, what happened back in November 1968? My research found some interesting ones, and here some of them:
- Richard Nixon was elected as President of United States.
- Nixon on the cover of Time Magazine, November 15, 1968.
- A mild 5.5 Richter Scale earthquake in St. Louis area.
- The Maldives became a republic.
- Detroit Tiger’s notorious Denny McLain became an MVP and Cy Young Award winner.
- The Beatles’ “The White Album” was released.
- John and Cynthia Lennon decree nisi was granted. Another words, they got a divorce1 .
- Cream’s Farewell Concert video was recorded at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Appropriately, Cream’s “White Room” song seemed like a good soundtrack for the tumultuous 1968:

Congrats on being over the hill (I think 40 is the milestone for that… or is 40 the midlife crisis and 50 is over the hill?). Well, anyway, Happy Birthday!
That’s quite a set of links and history lesson you put together. If I’m doing my math correctly, I think 1968 was the year my future mother-in-law got pregnant, so it was a good year for me too!
