While reading my RSS feeds, I saw a post by Reggy for Monday Madness meme – TV edition. I originally thought about this meme as an idea for me to write something during my “blogger’s block” moment last week. I had nothing else to say during my busy week at work and family visits. It got me thinking: What is the latest TV series that I enjoy most? Actually, I have a few, but I’m going to narrow it down to one, appropriate for Monday Madness.
The Middleman is one of the wittiest series I’ve seen in a while (my other favorite is Pushing Daisies). The actors are great, my hat tip to Natalie Morales for performing the role as Wendy Watson, the tough-smart-girl-but-still-sensitive type, quite well. The scripts were well written. The dialogues were sharp. It’s over-the-top sometimes, but that’s the beauty of it. I mean, what do you expect from a series about crime fighting dynamic duo, battling evil aliens, with futuristic gadgets?
Some might argue the dialogue was way too fast and confusing. I didn’t find it difficult to follow. Watching both actors deliver the tongue-twisting dialogue was a treat. I’ll never remember those lines, let alone speak them. I quite enjoy the references to recent pop cultures. It has a fair mix of 60’s hipness, 70’s sexiness, 80’s cheesiness, 90’s stubbornness, and 2000’s boldness. I’m always a sucker to music and movie references.
Yeah, call me shallow for liking such a campy new series (which may not be renewed for another season). Most great shows are short lived. They’re also easily misunderstood, not living up to the appeal of the common audience. This is the madness I’m talking about. Shows need to challenge the status quo, and dare to be different. I particularly like it when they don’t underestimate the intelligence of the audience. For me, shows like this will leave a lasting impression.

Hi Reggy,
It’s on ABC Family channel, so it’s on cable TV. I’m not sure who in Canada will carry this. It might be on Global.
Hello Rudy. Honestly, I never heard about this show. But judging from your review, it seems good and a must see.
Thanks for this review.
Hi Sassy,
Yes, I would recommend the show. If you can find it (online, or via Satellite TV), then you should definitely check it out.
