It’s inevitable. Star Trek is coming back. It’s a multi-billion dollar franchise. Too many legions of Trekkers and Trekkies are not about to be ignored.
The TV series is reported to come back via a new Star Trek TNG spinoff with Wil Wheaton returning as Lieutenant Wesley Crusher. [Edit: It’s for Star Trek: The Tour, not another TV spin off. Thanks jepoy!] Meanwhile, I’m waiting for JJ Abram’s Star Trek XI, hopefully the beginning of a new series that can restore the appeal and excitement of Trek movies since Wrath of Khan.
Below is the pirated version of the Trek 11 trailer during the Cloverfield movie premiere. When I find the official version, I’ll post it here. [Edit: Paramount finally has the official Star Trek XI movie site here.]
Thanks to Leon at MyThoughtsOnStuff for the lead to this trailer.

!! StarTrek! When I was little, my brother and I would watch DS9 and Voyager all the time. It made staying up late on saturdays worth it.

@jepoy:
Wow, thanks for the correction. With all of the excitement, I misread that Slice of Scifi article as yet another spin off. I suppose depending on the success of Trek 11 movie, they may make another series.

December ’08 is a long wait!! ๐
@C^2:
When I was little, I watched Star Trek: TOS all the time, and that was pretty scary to me. ๐ The “action” and costumes made lasting impressions in my mind.
Star Trek is one of the best Science Fiction series in the early 1990’s. As compared to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the characters are so cool. They spent so much in putting up the series.
