    Hey Matt,
BV became a generic no-name brand. Not worth mentioning. 🙂

  3. Everyone knows and loves, or hates some of these brands. HAha its funny how the logo soon appears everywhere. There isint a child alive who does not know about the golden arches.

  4. Have you read Pattern Recognition by William Gibson? It discusses modern consumerism through a main character who is actually allergic to brands.

    Hi Kim,

I have not read it. Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll pick it up when I have the chance. From Amazon’s review, it looks interesting:

Set in London, Tokyo, and Moscow, Pattern Recognition takes the reader on a tour of a global village inhabited by power-hungry marketeers, industrial saboteurs, high-end hackers, Russian mob bosses, Internet fan-boys, techno archeologists, washed-out spies, cultural documentarians, and our heroine Cayce Pollard–a soothsaying “cool hunter” with an allergy to brand names.

It is amazing how easily brands are associated with their logo. Looking at this made me realize I need to really work on “branding” my blog.

If I have something to sell, I definitely will think carefully on a brand with the appropriate logo. People do identify a product by its brand/logo.
