We went to Foothill Ranch Towne Center, yesterday. It was a cool sunny day when we talked about:
- Whether someone should blog about a subject that’s at least 2 weeks old. The Wikipedia version of a blog does not say it has to be current events, unless it’s a personal diary. Although it probably is better to discuss about current events to promote discussion.
- A digital camera that can record HD quality movies. There is one: Canon PowerShot TX1 7.1MP Digital Camera
- Camera viewfinders, required or not? On point-and-shoot small cameras, I don’t use it. For something like the Canon Rebel XTi Digital SLR Camera, I will need it to see the focus point/dot. The viewfinder is also useful if the LCD is broken.
- Whether or not Bluray set-top players can upconvert DVDs to 1080i. Apparently it can with the Sony BDP-S300 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player, but it’s not cheap at US$360+.
- Is it time to buy a Bluray player? Not yet. It’s due to the non-finalized bluray disc profile that will not play newer discs on current set-top players. Buying into bluray now is foolish, unless you buy a PS3. Of course, buying a PS3 has its own problem.
- The hype on the new Macbook Air. It boasts thinness of 0.76″ and lightness of 3 pounds. But Toshiba had one better 3 years ago with the Toshiba Portege R-200 at 0.3″ thin and 2.7 lbs. light. So why is this Macbook Air a big deal? Oh yeah… Apple Marketing.
