Today’s visit to the dentist was for a tooth extraction – or more specifically, the removal of what was left of a molar with dental crown and post. The previous dentist had done a root canal on a lower left molar, then installed a dental post with a crown. My dentist said the post was badly done. Instead of a bone, there was tissue in the middle. It was causing plague buildup and inflammation on my gums. The crown also caused large chunks of food to get stuck often, and I had to constantly floss/water-pick to dislodge them. The crown removal was long overdue.
So now, after a bit of stitches, plus a bit of bleeding and numbing pain, it’s all done. For the next 2 days, I won’t be able to eat any hot & hard food. I’ll be chewing on gauss for a while too. Let’s hope this bleeding stops early, otherwise I’ll lose 10 Lbs without even trying.

Hey Rudy,
Maybe we should show our kids the pictures in your blog post every night before we tell them to brush their teeth? 🙂 Ouch!
I have several fillings that will undoubtedly become crowns some day, and then…
I wish I had done a better job of brushing when I was a kid! Now I know better. ~ Steve
