Just another day in O.C. Yet another Santa Ana’s 50-mph winds. Yet another wildfires. Yet another ash/smoke filled morning. Yet another traffic jam.
The wind in Anaheim Hills were particularly strong, yesterday. It managed to knock down my neighbour’s pepper tree, snapped the thick branches like twigs. The streets were littered with fallen trees. Commute to work was slow and treacherous. As I approached Irvine this morning, smoke filled the air already (as pictured). The office now reeks ash smell.
And it’s only 10am!
“I love the smell of napalm in the morning!”
Lt. Colonel Bill Kilgore – Apocalypse Now
Update: work has decided to pass out nose mask for “protection”. I decided to pass out on the couch at work.

Okay, this really made me laugh. I guess in literature we call this the “grotesque”…things that are tragic that actually make us chuckle. (Flannery O’Connor was masterful at this. Your photo and the napalm quote garner a close second!)
Thanks LL.
I should mention that this blog entry was triggered by the silly announcement by our VP of Operations that it was still “business as usual”. With the condition so bad and everyone else left home early, how could it be just another normal day?
