For those of us who choose to stay with Windows XP, there are many tweaks you can do that will greatly improve your internet browsing experience. My current favourite (and must have) is the ClearType Screen Font Enhancement for better readibility. The words are so much easier to read after this is enabled. Check it out from Microsoft’s Typography Site.

Cleartype also works well with PDAs (esp. if you read a lot of EBooks). Much easier on the eyes. As far as I know it’s only useful on LCD displays…but those are what most people are using these days anyway.
