Ever since I built my first PC, I always find myself wanting more storage in one form or another. Nowadays I find myself recording kids shows from TV and record them into DVD and xvid to play on my Phillips portable DVD player. But before that, I bought digital camcorders and cameras that require more storage formats: Memory Stick, memory stick PRO, CF, Secure Digital. Now I have a cell phone, Samsung sch-U740, that uses MicroSD or Transflash card. Of course, with all that material generated taking pictures and recording videos, I have also been buying SCSI hard drives, as well as internal IDE drives (both PATA and SATA) and external drives via USB enclosures. Let’s not forget the many (and many) CD-R’s and DVD-R’s.
Now I just found out there is Gmail Drive shell extension so now I can store my files onto Google’s generous 3 gigs FREE storage space. I feel like a kid in a candy store again.
I know there are NAS systems out there… I’m going to leave that open as something to look forward to acquiring.
