I just read a blog written by Lukas Kaiser on how sitcoms on TV nowadays don’t have the same impact as it did back when I Love Lucy or Honeymooners were shown. My opinion on this is similar, they need to bring back the live audience, the 3-camera setup, and the skilled writers. The writing will provide confidence that the material the actors perform will shine. The live audience will setup the stage for talent to naturally be shown (theater actors love the energy from the crowd). The 3 cameras will capture the moment of truth. Some of the recent shows that I loved in this format were Everybody Loves Raymond, The Cosby Show, Home Improvement, or even Golden Girls (yeah I know, my guilty pleasure– also my wive’s favourite). I find myself still searching for that new sitcom with the same level wit, charm, and sophistication of those good ol’ shows. Alas, I may have to wait a while since nowadays people are enjoying shows with clever-edits (How I Met Your Mother), eye-candy (the women on Two and Half Men), and the over-the-top sarcasm (The Office).
Bring back I Love Lucy! There is nothing wrong with clean and fun comedy, with a good sense of family values.

You forgot to mention 3rd Rock From The Sun. Now that’s clean fun! Not so much family values as much as alien values, though.
