Seriously.
I’m no longer a regular blogger. I’m more active than ever on the social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. But, I’m not active on this blog. It’s not my conscious decision to stop blogging. It’s rather unintentional. I have an “excuse” that I didn’t think applicable to me:
People stopped commenting.
I don’t mean the spams, nor the “Hey, nice blog!” type of link-bait comments.
I mean the insightful comments from real people. The ones that generate new ideas. The ones who took the time (and effort) to respond, with articulation and sincerity.
I suppose it’s also my fault I don’t actively promote my blog. The effort is too much. However, I still visit my favorite blogs1 out there, and comment on them. I still love to participate in meaningful discussions. Occasionally, I would point them back to my blog.
I suppose I can write controversial posts, or game the Google by writing trending topics. I can easily churn out little posts, to show my knowledge of any subject, no matter how small or mundane. But that wouldn’t give me the satisfaction if I don’t get the proper feedback. I’m not looking for gamut of anonymous comments, which is why I still actively moderate the feedback on this blog. I want quality, not quantity.
This is where my Facebook account is more effective because I know my real friends do react and comment2. I enjoy the interaction, even if it’s a criticism. Getting a good conversation going is priceless. It’s like hanging out with them in a restaurant or dessert shop, talking for hours about one topic after another.
Sadly, I don’t get any more meaningful comments with this blog. This is why I slowed down blogging – up to a point I contemplated shutting it down. I will give myself another year of effort to bring it back to life. If no one sees the point, neither will I.

Hi Rudy,
I think I know exactly how you feel. I essentially stopped blogging for a while, and then fired back up to make a few posts, but once one stops engaging with other bloggers the comments seem to dry up.
Still, I keep paying my hosting fees for the blog because I’ve made some posts about my family that I want to keep to remind me someday of what was.
I’m glad to see your blog is still alive and kicking. Even if you don’t post very much, I think it’s worth keeping it around. And by the way, even though I haven’t commented here in a long time, I have read your new posts when you’ve made them.
By the way, I have a question about some old comments. What’s the best way to email you?

Good to hear from you. So far you’re the only one. I do feel the same to keep this blog, but the cost is too high. I may switch platform to tumblr, but I’ll lose all of the cool features of WordPress!
Decisions, decisions!
I’m back when I need ya! My IMA light came on again and I fear it’s time for my 4th battery since 2003 (this will be the 2nd one I have to pay for). Thinking of going off the Honda rez and I’m going to dig through your archives to see if there’s anyone from the old days still operating. Love my ’03 civic and even at 191K miles I’m not ready to give her up. Can’t argue with an 11 year old car that still gets 50 mpg! Thanks for all the info over the years!
