No, this is not a sarcastic post about becoming an “American”. It’s not about me becoming fat and ugly. It’s not about me having a Texan accent. It’s not about me having an IQ of a 1st grader.
In fact, it’s about me passing the Civic test this morning during the US Citizenship interview. It’s about knowing my United States’ history, rights, responsibilities, and geography. It’s about opening new opportunities as a US Citizen. It’s about making a difference in the political system by being able to vote.
I have hopes that the citizens of America can (and will) work together for the common good of the people. I hope my daughter, who’s born here, have a future in this country. My subculture is not that important. What is important, I have to be a citizen in a place I call home.
Now about jury duty…. that’s a future blog post.

What is really great is your writing style, I normally hit the back button before the first paragraph but you kept me interested

Congrats Rudy!
I believe very strongly in becoming a part of the community in which you live. I admire your commitment and am proud to call you a fellow citizen.
Congratulations Rudy!
Thanks, everyone!
hi Rudy,
Do you have something against fat, ugly Texans? They’re Americans too… 🙂
Seriously though, congrats! Since I think we agree on most things, I’m glad you’ll be voting too. Maybe we together our votes can make this a better country. Your daughter and my kids will be counting on us.
Steve
Hey Steve,
It’s an honor to be an American. I still believe it’s the land of opportunity and the free. Let’s hope the politicians don’t spoil that, though.
If you run for office, I’ll vote for you. 🙂
I would like to see America rising again. It is still the most powerful economy and army on the world, with the most influential culture. But I feel that we live in times when something bad could happen – because every empire can fall one day, and US have not as much potential as China or EU. I’m just hoping that everything is going to be fine.
