Do you have a name that people can associate with others? This is one of those technique people use to try remembering your name when you’re first introduced. I’ve used it and it seems to work pretty well. When I try to remember someone’s name, I usually start to recall the famous name(s) associated with him/her. For example, I can think of 5 famous names that can be associated with mine:
- Rudy (The Movie)
Sean Astin‘s claim to fame movie. It’s a movie about Daniel ‘Rudy’ Ruettiger trying to join the Notre-Dame football team. A lot of people remember this movie because of its feel-good, underdog-will-triumph, against-all-odds themes. - Rudy Huxtable
I like watching the Cosby Show, and so do many people. The lovable Keshia Knight Pulliam played her role well in the show. The most memorable scene of Rudy in the show was in episode Happy Anniversary where she did the lip-sync dance routine to her grandparents. - Rudolph ‘Rudy’ Giuliani
Who can forget the strong leader who held the people of New York City together during 9-11 tragedy? If I could vote him for president, I would! - Rudy Hartono
He was not so famous in North America, but in Asia, back in the 70’s and early 80’s, Rudy Hartono was the best badminton player in the world. Badminton was big in South East Asia, especially in Indonesia (where I was born). The 7 players that came from Indonesia were so good, they were once called “The Magnificent Seven”. Rudy led the team, of course. If you mention the name in Indonesia, people will immediately recognize it. - Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer
Since Christmas is coming, this one is pretty easy to relate to.
Maybe I can start a meme with this. What do you think?
[Update] Ok, maybe putting the pic of Nadine Velazquez from “My Name is Earl” TV show was too obscure of a reference. I just replaced it with the “Rudy” movie poster instead.

I immediately relate to someone with my name, although it is very common.
Unfortunately my name is pretty rare!
Throughout my entire life I would say I have only met around 5 people with the same name as myself.
